Health & Nutrition Coordinator

Relevant Experience:

Internally with line manager, other management team in Pakistan and Field Team Members and with relevant members at regional and HQ level. Externally with Implementing Partners, donors, Government departments, UN Clusters and any other relevant stakeholder as required. 

To be responsible for the development and management of geriatric Health and Nutrition  Program/projects, supervision and development of Technical documents (Health and Nutrition) and identifying funding and advocacy opportunities to be taken forward.

Job Description:

1-      Develop strategic framework for Health and Nutrition program in the country.

2-      Identify relevant donors and Lead to or assist in development of Concept Notes and project proposals on Health and Nutrition and submission to donors.

3-      Coordinate, monitor or manage Health and Nutrition projects, or activities of Health and Nutrition related Age friendly components in larger projects & to ensure smooth and timely implementation of the Age friendly interventions as designed in the project framework.

4-      Maintain proper record and develop periodic progress reports, activities and project completion reports for management or outside agencies.

5-      Develop monitoring and evaluation tools, Evaluates project effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action.

6-      Documenting key good practices, evidence, and identifying gaps through desk and operational research in health sector for older people and disseminate to relevant stake holders.

7-      Monitor the trends in local, national and international health policy and strategy that impact HelpAge health program and make recommendations to management for development of Health and Nutrition program accordingly.

8-      Develop conceptual and strategic frameworks for policy and advocacy on health especially NCD, Ageing & Disability, Emotional wellbeing  

9-      Advocacy with major actors (Government, (I) NGOs and UN Clusters, NDMA) in key coordination meetings through regular attendance and engagement.

10-   Translation, design and development of training curriculum and IEC material for different audiences on health topic.

11-   Represent HelpAge International at national and international forums and ensure active HAI membership / participation in donor, cluster, NGO and other relevant forums.

Requirement

Project Summary:

In June 2011, MSI was awarded a contract by USAID to provide monitoring, verification and evaluation services to USAID covering USAID-supported programs throughout Pakistan. The goal of the Monitoring and Evaluation Program (MEP) is to assess whether USAID resources are well-spent and achieving desired results and to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse in the administration of programs, regardless of the implementation mechanism.

Position Summary:

MSI is conducting an assessment of USAID’s Pakistan Initiative for Mothers and Newborn (PAIMAN) and Family Advancement for Life and Health (FALAH) programs to help determine which of the Mission’s current Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program activities should be continued. The goal of PAIMAN was to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality in Pakistan through viable and demonstrable initiatives and programs aimed at building the capacity of existing structures within the country’s health systems. The FALAH program intended to address the high unmet need for family planning services in Pakistan. The findings of MSI’s assessment will help inform ongoing restructuring of the MCH Program. A locally-recruited Public/Reproductive Health Specialist will support the assessment team in developing and finalizing data collection instruments; overseeing and participating in data collection efforts; data analysis and report writing; and communicating findings and recommendations to USAID/Pakistan.

Please note: Only Pakistani citizens are eligible for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Complete the final assessment report.

• Undertake other tasks required for the successful completion of the study.

Qualifications:

• At least a Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field.

• At least 15 years of experience in public health management, maternal and child health care, and/or family planning.

• Experience leading applied research initiatives and evaluations, particularly focusing on public and reproductive health.

• Experience working in Pakistan and/or South Asia preferred.

• Experience evaluating USAID-funded programs preferred.

• Fluency in English required.

• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.

Main Responsibilities:

Enhance behavioral changes at individual, family and community levels through awareness raising in targeted schools on WASH focusing on tools like CHAST and CtC.Train School Hygiene Committees and school teachers on WASH.Mobilize PTCs in schools to coordinate with FLOWERS site engineers in overseeing construction activities.Assist Project Officer and M&E officer in collecting and analyzing monitoring data according to log frame; conduct baseline and end line surveys on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) assessment on WASH at schools level.Raise school children’s and teacher’s awareness on safe drinking water and latrine use, and motivate them to use hygienic latrines and safe drinking water at the family level.Establish/strengthen School Hygiene Committees and conduct regular hygiene promotion sessions at the schools to take on the responsibility of operation and maintenance of the wash facilities.Build the capacities of PTCs and Teachers to ensure the sustainability of the build facilities.Arrange general cleaning campaigns with the support of teachers and PTAs at school and community level.Undertake other duties that may be determined by the Line Manager.Establish and maintain a relationship of trust with the beneficiaries

 Reporting:

The post holder will be asked to report on his/her work periodically as required. Additional reporting requirements will be required on an ad hoc basis, according to need and circumstance.

Project Manager - Health

Responsible for:

- Supervise and facilitate Medical Officers and other health staff in carrying out health service delivery related activities.
- Supervise and facilitate project team in carrying our health education awareness sessions in the target communities.
- Mange timely and quality delivery of project outputs as well as financial management of the project as per approved budget.
