Chemonics seeks a short-term Component 1 coordinator (C1C) for the ongoing USAID-funded Sindh Reading Program (SRP) program. The C1C should be familiar with the government of Sindh’s in-service institutions and programs and should also be capable of interacting with these government institutions. The C1C should be experienced in managing and coordinating continual development programs with government of Sindh institutions that are innovative and that link with the new pre-service degree programs that USAID has been supporting through the Teacher Education Program. This short-term technical expert will be primarily responsible for the day to day technical start-up and coordination of the Component 1 face-to-face training of teaching and learning associates (TLAs) and affiliated activities. The C1C will also have a support role in preparing for assessment practice, as well as access and material development, leading to relevant learning outcomes for youth as part of SRP’s Components 2, 3, and 4. The C1C will report directly to the deputy chief of party in charge of overall program technical coordination. Responsibilities include:
- Develop transition plan for technical activities between the TLA training in August and the face-to-face training planned for September
- Establish installation of monitoring tools for all TLAs
- Coordinate the orientation of formative assessment tools for TLAs during their on-the-job training
- Coordinate all day-to-day tasks associated with the Component 1 face-to-face trainings beginning in September
- Initiate registration process of all face-to-face participants into the SRP’s SMS platform
- Develop face-to-face refresher training guidelines and training manual for TLA management
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education or related field required
- Five years of experience in the development and implementation of in-service education programs, either donor assisted or with the government or private sector
- Experience in developing, supporting, or coordinating in-service programs for primary grade teachers with government of Sindh or private teacher-training institutions in Pakistan
- Strong communications skills, both interpersonal and written, to fulfill the technical and managerial responsibilities proposed
- Ability to work collegially and productively with a wide range of citizens and groups in regional and local government and in the community
- Ability to manage a technical team with minimal supervision
- Ability to make timely and effective decisions to produce results through strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and policies
- Willingness to travel within the requested SRP districts of Sindh
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Strong English writing and speaking skills
