Pakistan: Communications & Outreach Specialist, Pakistan


World Learning has an immediate opening for a Communication & Outreach Specialist for the USAID-funded “Training for Pakistan Project”. Duration: Approximately 18 months. Location: Islamabad, Pakistan.


Background: The Training for Pakistan project provides training and capacity development services to USAID/Pakistan’s contractors, grantees, and partners under Government to Government assistance programs, and at times to the Mission directly. The Project supports all USAID sector teams interested in exchanges or training of host-country Pakistani nationals.


Communication & Outreach Specialist’s Responsibilities: S/he will be responsible for enhancing the awareness of U.S. assistance in Pakistan through the project by carrying out various publicity activities through a variety of media and ensuring that promotion, outreach, and recruitment activities reach relevant entities and people in the Government of Pakistan, local organizations, education institutions, and non-governmental and civil society organizations. In addition, s/he will advertise project’s training activities, recruit participants, reach out to participant alumni and conduct/organize alumni activities, and gather success stories to develop documentaries. S/ he will also be the Point of contact for all the USAID Alumni associates and have the ability to run a successful association.


Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain relationship with media
• Organize publicity events by working very closely with USAID/Pakistan Task Order Contracting Officer Representative (TOCOR), Development Outreach and Communications (DOC) office, relevant technical teams and USAID contractors, grantees and media on all project publicity events
• Develop the project overall communications strategy
• Produce and disseminate print and electronic publicity materials
• Maintain project website and social media presence
• Engage local and international media, as appropriate and in consultation with the TOCOR and the USAID/DOC office
• Train and guide other project staff on publicity issues
• Maintain media contacts and information databases
• Recruit participants through the project website or media
• Conduct alumni activities
• Assist with success stories
• Drafting event briefing memos (EBM)


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in the development and implementation of increasing awareness of a service or a product among Pakistani audiences required.
• Strong communication skills and experience working across a variety of media required.
• Experience in working on outreach and recruitment activities of a similar scope and scale necessary.
• First-hand knowledge of the local media, Pakistani advertising market, as well as the principles of public relations required.
• Proficiency with website content management and the use of social media required.
• Familiarity with graphic design, printing and publishing processes required.
• General understanding of procurement processes necessary.
• A broad understanding of issues related to international development required.
• Experience of working in Media & Communications with a USAID Project will be preferred.

Ability to speak and write fluently in English and Urdu
