Position Objective:

The Director of Business Risk (DBR) is responsible for managing security for multiple United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded projects in Pakistan, implemented by Chemonics International. This senior-level security position requires high performance in information collection and analysis, networking, incident management, risk analysis, and personnel management. The DBR will be expected to establish strong working relationships with a number of local and international organizations and entities as well as develop strong ties with the project staff. The DBR will work with Chemonics leadership, both in Pakistan and in the Washington, D.C. home office, of security trends and incidents and provide support during a crisis situation.  The position will be based in Karachi, Pakistan with frequent travel throughout Sindh, Punjab, and other locations in Pakistan.

The Director of Business Risk will at all times adhere to and act according to the Chemonics Professional Code of Ethics (“Living Our Values”) and will make the principles of the Code a part of the project’s culture and standard operating procedures.

Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:

Assess security risks impacting the projects’ expatriate and local staffAdvise Chemonics leadership, both in Pakistan and in the Washington, D.C. home office, of security trends and incidents and provide support during a crisis situationWork closely with the security team in Washington, D.C. to maintain and updated security standard operating proceduresProvide oversight and technical management of security subcontracts, security subcontractor staff, and identify areas for subcontractor improvementMaintain comprehensive understanding of country context through ongoing information gathering, analysis, networking, and dissemination of information to relevant partiesConduct personnel, facility (office and residences), and operational threat and risk assessments for project activities in PakistanMake recommendations for security enhancements and modifications and ensure that approved recommendations are implementedAct as a local crisis manager and coordinate security lockdowns, evacuations, and response to security incidents in Pakistan

 Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in security, crisis management, and research and analysisStrong understanding of security situation in Pakistan; specific expertise in security challenges facing Sindh and Punjab Provinces preferredExperience in low visibility approaches to security platformsAbility to establish strong working relationships with project stakeholders Ability to resolve conflicts and crises effectively Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to gather and analyse information associated with physical, psychological, business, and operations risksDemonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrityBachelor's degree preferredWritten and oral English fluency requiredIt is anticipated that this position will be filled by a Pakistani local national
