Project Summary:


In May 2015, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a five year contract to Management Systems International (MSI) to provide performance management support to USAID-sponsored development programs throughout Pakistan. The Performance Management Support Contract (PERFORM) will serve as a centralized management support mechanism supporting USAID/Pakistan’s mission to increase stability, democracy, and prosperity for the men and women of Pakistan through the implementation of the Mission Strategic Framework (MSF). PERFORM will provide data and information to help project managers improve project results through better implementation and design, as well as services that support the Mission’s learning and adaptive process, enabling it to better target its programming and achieve its goals and objectives. The performance components will include: (1) Monitoring Services; (2) Evaluation Services; (3) Assessment Services; and (4) Learning Support Services.

Position Summary:


MSI seeks a Researcher/Data Analyst to be part of a team that is conducting a wide range of qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method analysis involving data from a number of sources. The tasks assigned will range from analyzing secondary source data and writing brief reports or summaries to more complex assignments involving the analysis of primary data (e.g., surveys, key informant interviews, focus group data). The research will pertain to USAID/Pakistan priorities across its portfolio. This is a full-time position based in Islamabad.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct document reviews.

  • Conduct online research.

  • Develop data collection and analysis plans.

  • Collate and analyze secondary source data, ranging from project data and government statistics to published reports and analyses.

  • Draft data collection instruments.

  • Collect primary data including key informant interviews, short surveys and group discussions.

  • Clean and/or code data sets.

  • Conduct qualitative and/or quantitative analysis of data.

  • Write short briefs and summary documents for a wide range of audiences in English.

  • Produce graphs, charts and tables that synthesize information or convey findings.

  • Develop presentations and talking points.

  • Undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in social sciences or a relevant field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of research experience.

  • Knowledge of the development sector in Pakistan.

  • Demonstrated analytic skills, qualitative and/or quantitative.

  • Fluency and excellent communication skills in English.

  • Excellent skills using Microsoft Office (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience using analytic software such as MaxQDA, SPSS, STATA, etc. a plus.
