Social Legal Promoter

Purpose of the position

Social Legal Promoter will be responsible to implement the “Improved Protection through Strengthened Rule of Law” Project by contributing at various levels by engaging a range of project stakeholders in district Muzaffargarh. The position holder will promote knowledge-based, socially and legally accepted practices and structures around the women and children rights among stakeholders. S/he will ensure that all WVP strategies are aligned with and a mechanism of sustainability is ensured through effective community, government and other key stakeholder’s engagement.

Other key tasks include:

Represent & introduce WVP and the project “Improved Protection through Strengthened Rule of Law”, its goals and objectives to a range of relevant government and non-government stakeholders at various levels in district Muzaffargarh.

-       Ensure rapport-building, linkages development, mobilization, awareness raising, capacity building, and close coordination among key stakeholders for their increased responsiveness to the issues of violence against women and children.

-       Formation and strengthening of groups comprising the relevant stakeholders

-       Plan and organize different events at various levels ensuring participation and representation of the key stakeholders.   

-       Promote knowledge-based, socially and legally accepted forms and practices around the women and children rights among stakeholders.

-       Ensures that public policies and decisions around women and children rights are discussed and understood by relevant government and non-government stakeholders.

-       Work to create and strengthen a community-based legal monitoring and outreach system around the issues of women and children which is owned and supported by various stakeholders.

-       Promote a collaborative action planning culture among key stakeholders around the issues of women and children at various levels.

-       Contribute to a better understanding of the legal rights of men, women, boys and girls, and on gender and child sensitive practices and redressal.

Qualifications, experience and skills

-       Masters/graduate degree in Law, social sciences especially development studies, anthropology, sociology, social work, or other social sciences related subjects.

-       Minimum 3 years work experience on gender discrimination and child protection issues

-       Have good understanding of issues and rights of women and children in the context of Pakistan’s national and international commitments and policies.

-       Have experience of working on and with vulnerable sections of society particularly children and women.

-       Skills and experience in implementing project activities with a key focus system strengthening and practice change.   

-       Good ability to plan, organize and implement activities in the field in complex settings.

-       Fluent in local language, Urdu and English language and should be very well versed with the local cultural dynamics and issues.
