Pakistan: Sexual and reproductive health program coordinator (M/F) Pakistan - Lahore


For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in 40 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.


Since August 2015, MdM is working in collaboration with the Population Welfare Department of Punjab. The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity building of 17 new adolescent centers’ staff in order to improve the quality of services and to increase the attendance of adolescents.


TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


As sexual and reproductive health program coordinator, you are responsible for the supervision of the program in the 17 adolescent centers. You will report to the general coordinator based in Islamabad and will supervise a team of 13 persons (3 persons under direct management: project manager, administrator and logistician).


More specifically, you will:
-Analyze the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) situation in Punjab and provide strategic inputs for MdM intervention
-Design a sexual and reproductive health project for 5 years
-Be responsible for the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the program following donor contract and MdM strategy in accordance with budget
-Identify local and international associations or networks and develop potential partnerships
-Train, guide and assist the project team in the implementation of SRHRS activities
-Follow the security guidelines and protocols and make sure they are regularly updated and followed by team
-Liaise with the administrative coordinator for any topic related to finance and accountancy management
-Liaise with logistic coordinator for any topic related to logistic in Punjab
-Ensure national staff recruitment, HR procedures implementation and guarantee respect for labour laws
-Represent and liaise with governmental partners (Social Welfare Department and others) in collaboration with project manager
-Assess potential donors and follow-up on fundraising process
-Ensure a surveillance of local legislation and practices which are directly applicable to MdM
-Manage all legal problems that the mission might encounter, in relation with the coordination team

Contract : Fixed-term contract


Duration : 8 months


Starting date: May 2nd, 2016
Position based in Lahore with regular visits to Islamabad.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:


Graduate/ master in social sciences or other relevant advanced degree.
At least 2 years of international experience in management and coordination of humanitarian and/or development project.
Strong skills in sexual and reproductive health and rights program management.
Analytical skills, problem-solver and team manager.
Ability to keep calm in highly stressful work situations and flexibility to travel to remote areas in Punjab and throughout Pakistan.
Languages:
English fluent (both written and verbal).
