National Nutrition Coordinator

Purpose of position:

National Nutrition Coordinator  will uphold World Vision’s mission, goal and objectives in bringing positive and lasting change into the lives of the most vulnerable children & women to ensure improved access to quality health care & nutrition care services, facility and community-based nutrition services and awareness-raising on health & nutritional issues and needs in program areas.  The key performance objective of this position is to coordinate quality implementation of nutrition activities and interventions in World Vision areas of intervention, in particular, to provide technical support to AO nutrition coordinators, where required, on effective & quality service delivery, along with support to the supervisor on evidence-based planning and program development for addressing nutrition needs of children and women in particular.

Major Responsibilities:

? Working closely with health and nutrition manager for contributing to the long-term WV Pakistan strategic planning process ? Successfully contributing towards implementation of the Country Strategy within Pakistan ? Contributing to sectoral and thematic strategy development ? In consultation with H & N Manager, identify nutrition needs in potential program areas, based on program learning and operational research ? Assist H & N nutrition Manager on H&N program development through technical and operational inputs, Use assessment and evaluation reports in identifying potential funding opportunities for priority programs and projects that fit within the strategic framework of WV Pakistan. ? In close collaboration with the H & N Manager, identify the key areas for future non-flood programs and projects and liaise with donors and other relevant stakeholders to complete relevant research to prepare and secure winning proposals. ? While keeping H & N Manager in the loop technically supervise and  monitor program implementation, tracking procurements and spending, and ensure effective systems in place for uninterrupted  supply of nutrition stock, medicines and program supplies to H&N program facilities ? Technically Supervise nutrition  Coordinators to ensure timely program updates and reporting; monitor and analyze program outputs, HMIS and other health & nutrition program data ? Conduct field visits to support nutrition coordinators on effective and quality program management and implementation ? Prevent and control gaps against targets, and share lessons learnt from program implementation with supervisor to contribute towards effective integrated nutrition programming ? Provide technical inputs for generating quality monthly program reports, and donor reporting – both technical and financial • Effectively participate in the development of the detailed implementation plan (DIP) detailing operational, capital budgets and monitoring and evaluation schemes • Periodically review of the DIP to monitor operational and programming activities. • Working with H & N Manager for situation analysis and needs assessment in existing nutrition projects and potential program districts, where required ? Technically supervise nutrition  program management through developing tools, such as; annual thematic work plan, spending plan and procurement plan ? Technically monitoring program progress against set targets, objectives and indicators ? Technically monitoring program spending, track Budget vs Actual (BvA) and monthly projections vs. expenditure ? Provide technical inputs to H & N manager  in the process for the assessment of current and potential future implementing partners, including creation of assessment tools (with support from Finance and HR departments), on-site assessment visits, principled selection of partners, and formal feedback to implementing partners and potential partners ?  Provision of high-quality technical support and capacity building on nutrition/CMAM program to implementing partners and potential partners where required ? Technically supporting implementing partners in the transition process at the end of project implementation, ensuring sustainability of project outcomes • Coordinate with field H & Nutrition Coordinators, Ministry of Health Nutrition Wing, Nutrition Cluster partners and nutrition cluster for effective program implementation and development • Participate in the recruitment of AO technical staff in nutrition as per HR recruitment policies and guidelines • Maintain a positive working relation with the staff by demonstrating consistent and effective management and leadership roles. • Ensure the effective participation in the development of performance agreements, staff development plans and periodic evaluation of staff to maintain quality human resources in the AO. • Provide inputs for preparation of H&N communication materials such as donor reports, monthly progress report, weekly updates, program brief, success stories, and advocacy materials

Requried, Knowled, Education, Qualification, Skills & Experience:

MBBS with MPH or MSc. Nutrition from a recognized institution is essentialOther relevant post-graduate qualification will be an assetKnowledge on MNCH, SRH and CMAM programming is essentialAt least 5 years in health and/or nutrition sector Field based experience on health and/or nutrition project implementation is essentialFluent in English, preferred knowledge of the local languageGood management and supervisory skills with development workers and field staffAbility to manage conflictsWork experience in complex  emergency /rehabilitation settingsGood understanding of Human Rights, different approaches of development.Good understanding of Gender and Child rights.Have understanding of Matrix structure and have working in it.Able to identify conflicts and manage them before they escalateUnderstands and values diversity and maximizes diversity to achieve organizational goalsBroad understanding on health policy and development issues in conflict & post-conflict settings will be an assetStrong communication and negotiation skills with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholdersAbility to work effectively under pressureAbility to travel to insecure and remote locations
