WASH Technical Coordinator

Introduction
WaterAid Pakistan (WAP) works towards the sustainable provision of safe water & sanitation and hygiene education promotion targeting the poorest communities by working with local partners in both urban and rural areas. Currently WAP operates through 15 local partners located in Sindh, Punjab and KP.

Job Purpose
This position titled Communications Coordinator is placed at the level of Programme Coordinator and reports directly to the Manager – Urban/Rural WASH. This position is designed with the objective to systematically support the country programme by developing and/or providing technical input to the viability and quality in the implementation of WASH interventions through its partners’ work in the achievement of the organisation’s strategic objectives.  The position is required to have good relations with the technical staff of other stakeholders in the field as well as an excellent understanding of WASH needs of the Country.

Key Responsibilities:
The WASH Technical Coordinator will ensure that consistent high quality, technically viable water, sanitation and hygiene services are provided under WaterAid supported WASH projects at the field level.

The other responsibilities will include:

Provide technical leadership  and support including reviews & technical design evaluation in WASH projectsSupport and advise WaterAid partners and stakeholders on technical issues related to WASH programme implementationConduct needs assessments, technical feasibility studies, prepare detailed engineering designs, BOQs, and assess & identify needs for improvements of the ongoing WASH projectsDevelop technical notes, review papers,  and documentation on the technologies and products to expand WASH programmeDisseminate technical knowledge, and skills on WASH programme and related construction activities to WaterAid staff and partnersOrganize and conduct training and orientation of WaterAid and partners on technical issuesProvide support to WASH emergency relief and reconstruction projects and integrate elements of DRR into regular WASH programmes   Participate in establishing effective monitoring, information and reporting systems and development of communication materials and strategiesMaintain close liaison with Technical Support Unit and staff at UK and regional levelRepresent WaterAid at various relevant WASH forums at national and regional levelPerform other relevant tasks as assigned by the organization   

Requirements:

University degree in Civil Engineering, Water & Environmental Sanitation or Public Health.3-5 years professional work experience in WASH sector with current knowledge of the latest developments and technologies in water, sanitation and hygieneDemonstrated skills in carrying out technical designing and evaluation of WASH projectsStrong written and oral communication skills including ability to write technical documents and give presentations to colleagues within and outside WaterAidStrong interpersonal skills and experience in working effectively in an independent capacity and as a member of a teamTravel and work in the field
