Project Officer – Electoral Dispute Resolution (EDR) & Political Finance (Pol. Fin)

We are an International Organization (INGO) working in the field of elections, democracy and governance in collaboration with government institutions and civil society in support of electoral reforms in Pakistan. We are currently seeking committed and energetic staff for the above position. Detailed scope of work with required skills and qualifications are summarized below:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Review of existing legal provisions regulating conduct of various electoral stakeholders during various phases of electionsCover issues related to election disputes, and develop consensus on complex areas.Work in the area of political finance – review current system and suggest improvements and a rollout plan, and assist in its implementationInform and conduct working group meetings/consultation events with electoral stakeholders, political parties and candidates and others including, but not limited to, civil society organizations to assess solutions for effective adjudication of electoral disputes, and role of money in elections.Help develop background briefing materials for workshops and working groupsUndertake research on best international practices in line with local realities and come up with practical measures.Present EDR and Political Finance methodologies in briefings and meetings with stakeholdersWork closely with concerned officer(s) of partner organizations and draft/finalize procedures and adjudication mechanisms based on local context, international standards and best practices.Any other task assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

Master’s degree preferably in International Law, Election Law, Electoral Processes, Political Science or other related fields.Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in electoral and political affairsProven record of drafting good quality written materials/researches.Excellent communicator, highly organized, and ability to take initiative, as well as work within a team environment.Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point,Excellent interpersonal/representational skillsExpert Analytical, communication and writing skillsStrong skills  in written and oral communication (Urdu and English)Proven ability to write and format short and crisp research papers, option papers, reports and strategy papersAbility to produce high quality work under pressure and within time constraints.Preferably prior working experience with international organizations.
