Media Officer

Relevant Experience:

Masters degree in communications or related field from accredited university.At least 5-7 years of experience working in public relations’ experience working in government public relations or in liaison with Government of Pakistan media officials preferable.Articulate with creative skills to present information in attractive, interesting formats.Demonstrated ability to work as a team member, as well as to provide leadership.Intimate knowledge of Sindh history, politics, cultural issues, etc.Ability to travel in Sindh regions.Demonstrated excellence writing and speaking English,Urdu,Sindhi and Pashtu.Previous work experience with international donors/NGOs required; experience with International organizations desirable.Ability to work under short deadlines and efficiently handle multiple tasks, attention to detail and the ability to function well in a team.

Job Description:

Design and implement a media strategy that promotes program activities. Serve as the primary point of contact for the media, including briefing media on the activities and arranging field visits and facilitating journalists in their coverage of program related activities.Advise and assist with the coordination of media events in Sindh to promote program activities, including preparation and dissemination of press releases and background information, protocol issues, site selection and preparation, staging and logistical issues, notification of appropriate government officials and media, as well as on-site coordination of mediaMaintain a calendar of program events.Advise the program staff on how to best interact with the media; train the staff on talking points.Draft and/or edit media plans for grants, as well as press releases to submit to media outlets for publishing.Maintain and track printed press release or media successes, reporting on accomplishments each week.Assist with the development and maintenance of media materials, to the extent possible in English, Urdu, Pashto and Sindhi languages including fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, presentations and other visual displays.Represent  to external audiences, sharing program updates and successes.Participate in professional development and training activities, as necessary.Travel routinely throughout the region.Other tasks as assigned.
