Project Officer DRR

Purpose of the Position / Overall Task:

The DRR Project Officer is responsible for monitoring key stages in; Partners Risk Assessment field activities and IP’s DRR Project field activities, using DKH monitoring tools. DRR POs also contribute to the capacity building of IP’s DRR Project field staff in the use of specific assessment tools and in developing their project specific DRR knowledge.

 Job Description:

Verification of the implementation of key stages in field level Risk Assessment and DRR Project activitiesIdentification and reporting of issues in the implementation of Risk Assessment field activities and DRR project activitiesRegular monitoring of field activities of IPs and identification of potential problems for action by the DKH DRR DepartmentFacilitate all visits by DKH representatives to the assigned DRR projects as required, in consultation with the DRR PC. Inform the DRR PC on project related capacity building needs and support that are required by Implementing Partners (IPs) field staff.Support Implementing Partners (IPs) field staff during Risk Assessments, project implementation and with compilation of data.Provide guidance where necessary to Implementing Partners (IPs) field staff in their collation of data for preparation of monthly progress reportsParticipate as a facilitator in Risk Assessment and DRR Project Orientation workshops and training sessions.Submit weekly and monthly reports on activities monitored in the field to DKH DRR PC.Collect and provide necessary field data on the project target groups for verification purposes, as required by the DRR PC.

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelors Level University Degree in a discipline; Social Sciences, Developments Studies, Rural Development and diploma in DRR/DRM

Experience & Skills Required:

2-3 years of working experience with I/NGOs.Minimum 1 year working experience on DRR/DRM; WASH & Livelihoods sector will be additional advantage.Experience of working with Implementing Partners.Experience of monitoring project field activities.Demonstrated coordination & facilitation skillsCompetent user of Microsoft Office tools especially MS Word, Excel & Power Point.Excellent knowledge of local languages in Project areas
