Media Assistant
Specific Duties and responsibilities
The incumbent’s duties will include but not be limited to the following:
1. Help develop and follow-up with the implementation of media projects for the Program. Liaise with the Media Cell and implementing partners on these grants, as required.
2. Track individual grant processes including, but not limited to, financial tracking to ensure Program standards are met for budgeting and payments, and be the grant focal points of media grants as required.
3. Assist in the design and development of print, radio, video, and alternative development related media content and consider existing and possible dissemination vehicles for these materials.
4. Create media plans for all program projects, including organizing and coordinating all aspects of public events for program successes, project completions, and project inaugurations, as required.
5. Write and distribute press releases on all program activities, successes, project inaugurations, significant developments, etc. Monitor press coverage of program activities.
6. Assist with the development and maintenance of public relations materials and events, to the extent possible.
7. Serve as principal contact with representatives of the media to promote story ideas and feature stories related to the program. Advise the program leadership on press and media relations.
Education, Training, and Experience required for the Position:
To address and carry out effectively the range of duties and responsibilities above, the incumbent shall possess the following:
1. Experience working in public relations or the media; experience working in government public relations or in liaisoning with Government of Pakistan media officials if possible.
2. A demonstrated ability to exercise significant, independent professional judgment. The individual must be able to recognize operational problems and issues and be capable of crafting information messages in various media formats (e.g. press releases, website, etc.), targeting a variety of audiences both local and stateside.
3. A thorough knowledge of media operations (e.g., print, television, Internet, radio) from the perspective of knowing how to shape and get a story out. Demonstrated skills and extensive hands-on experience in public relations are required.
4. Outstanding oral and written English, Urdu, and Pashto communication skills, analytical ability, and interpersonal relationships. Creative skills to present information in attractive, interesting, readable formats.
5. Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences preferably in Journalism or mass communication or equivalent, a minimum of three years experience in a similar position
